Answer the following questions in detail based on the film:

1 Why is it important to look at social life from the different levels of analysis?

It is important to look as social life from different levels to see the different perspectives many people may have looking at the same situation. The local residents just wanted help. The local government wanted to help rescue residents that were stuck in their homes but could not due to communication outage in the city. The state government was concerned about its constituents but was looking to the federal government and FEMA to step in an take over. However, the federal government was not looking to take over but to provide whatever resources necessary to help the residents. Each group looking at the same disaster but each having different priorities in how to solve the crisis.

2 Think about the levels of government shown. What could be connected to micro, meso, and macro levels?

The local government, including the mayor was part of the micro level because they were already present in New Orleans during the time of Hurricane Katrina and knew personally of those impacted or knew the impacted through family and friends.

The state government, including Governor Blanco, was part of the mess level. Although not in New Orleans, they were connected with the local government through existing connections discuss needs and issues that were going on in real time.
