PCAR (Purpose, Concepts, Applications, & Reflection)

PCAR #: 1

PURPOSE:

Briefly, in 2-3 sentences, what was the purpose for each of the readings of the week?

The reading went over the perspectives between race and social justice from an African American author from a predominantly white neighborhood. The story elaborates the experience the author has had in his life and how he sees the issue regarding racism. Thus the author is hoping that this reading will help everyone to develop habits that would lead to an open discussion about racial injustice without a causing frustration and create a meaningful dialog to address it and become more educated about the issue.

CONCEPTS:

Describe 3 main concepts in the readings for the week.

Make sure to include a quote for each concept and your analysis of the concept.

" You see as a second grader new to the school, my new white peers received me warmly. I never felt like an outsider. I was never blocked from playing with the others"

Children do not see raise as an issue. Instead, they accept everyone for who they are naturally by being inviting and caring. Racial unjust is something that individuals are not born with but rather something they adopt with the norms of society

" As I progressed through my elementary school years, I noticed the unfair/inequitable/ Contradictory treatment I and other Black kids received in relation to our White peers."

Educators can hinder our society ability to become a place of love and harmony. This author discusses here how the teacher in his school mistreated black student installing a divided that eventual causing the rest of the white student to adhere as they get old.

"I recognize that one can easily make the argument that i may not have always been aware of when I was being victimized by covert racism practice."

Here the author points out that as a child he was not able to decode the type of hate that he was experiencing. Here the author elaborates how without been aware of you are being discriminated you can be oblivious
