TIPS for Brighter Tomorrow (Literally ☺)

  1. It is about selling yourself to people.
  2. What to sell ?
  • CONFIDENCE ! Keep stressing in your mind that “ I am the best person for that job !”

 Whatever they throw at you just say “I can do it” and even if it is not something you can actually do yourself, you will say “Somehow I will find a way to get it done !”. Because that’s what leaders do.

  • You need to mentioned to them : LEADERSHIP is ≠ SENIORITY.

Leadership is about how to meet or exceed your objectives by optimizing the resources that you have. In my case I don’t have to be the most expert in technical or operational. I have a great team behind me (pool of experts with years of experience in technical, operational even managerial background). I just have to direct those resources into the right direction and for the greater good of the company !

  • With all due respect, I believe Cementing Team Leader should have a Cementing background because as a Cement Team Leader, she should at least know about the whole process of designing, executing and evaluating of a cement job. There will be a day where we need to make a quick and critical decision, and having Cementing Background is an ADVANTAGE on making sure we are making the RIGHT ONE!

(that answer above is enough, but if you want you can also mention by having cementing  background, the Leader will be able to choose the right cementing technology for ADCO, which is translated into cost optimization, which is a part of the key pillars for ADNOC : Efficiency and Profitability)

  1. Why should we choose you ?
  1. I believe in myself. I have leadership qualities, which are :
  • Listen, Listen and Listen. This is most important quality of a leader. People may “hear” but they don’t normally “listen”. Without listening you will not find the root cause of a problem nor the solution to it.
  • Always cross checking on everything. (able to differentiate between performance VS Lips Service)
  • Go for Win-Win Solution whenever possible, if not then…
  • DECIDE ! (you can’t make everyone happy ! You make decision based on sound justification !)
  1. I have excellent communication skills. As a proof, I’m the focal point for ALL TS/WS CAMS, I’m handling KPI’s of ALL 45 RIGS in ADCO (5 different cementing contractors), and currently even though it’s only small team, but I am the group leader of 2 senior field engineers with >15 years experiences.
  2. Just like our great ruler, Syeikh Zayed, I consider myself as visioner. I know my objective and way to achieve it. The only think I’m lacking now, is just the authority. That is why I’m standing in front of you now ! Give me the trust and see for yourself.
  3. I have gather the trust of the WHOLE Cementing Teams. I’m encouraging you to ask each and every person in Cementing, who they would like to choose to lead them. I believe in Democracy, From the people and For the people. Let them Vote ! For a team of experience people with average > 10 years experience, to choose a young person as their leader, is a SOLID PROOF of my capability.

Remember NEVER EVER bring another candidates down, if the panel ask “Do you think all the other candidate are not good? “ just tell them “ I believe all the candidates that have been chosen for this position are good, but I believe I am the BEST FIT for this position !
