Chapter 7 Evaluation Form

After my reading of the Chapter 7: Social Organization: Life in Bureaucracies

I Have learned Weber’s Model refers to both an agency of non-elected government officials and a policy-making group. Historically, a bureaucracy is a governing body of government by nonpartisan elected officials. Today bureaucracy is the administrative system that governs any large organization, whether state owned or privately owned. Public administration in many countries is an example of a bureaucracy, but it is the centralized hierarchy of a business.

  1. I was surprised to know “McDonaldization” is the term invented by George Ritzer to describe the sociological phenomenon that is taking place in our society. You might think it started with Ray Kroc in the 1950s when he bought his first hamburger restaurant, but its origins were much earlier than that. In fact, Henry Ford was the first pioneer of McDonaldization with his vision of the assembly line to improve the production of cars. His revolutionary ideas dramatically altered the number of cars that can be produced and are very effective.

  1. I see how the chapter information relates to my life… as research has found evidence that playing at work is related to fatigue, depression, stress, and depression in individuals. Play is also positively related to job satisfaction, sense of competence, and creativity. Studies show that when a participant receives a mission that is mischievous, they will engage more and spend more time on the job. My current job involves a lot of playing at work, my work environment is very relaxing and creativity that help me to get through work hours fast. I can do everything during my work hours like getting food, taking a rest event during work hours as long as I complete my work at the end of the shift.
