Organizational description

1. Organizational Overview/Mission Statement (maximum 150 words)

FARIAD is a non-governmental, non-profit making organization established and legally registered under the companies' code of Ghana in May 2002. It is also registered with the department of Social Welfare and Employment to undertake a wide range social and economic development activities aimed at alleviating hardships and vulnerability among marginalized and disadvantaged groups in society.

Fair River International Association for Development is also affiliated to organizations such as Ghana Association of Private Voluntary Organizations in development (GAPVOD), an umbrella organization for NGOs in Ghana, NGO Coalition on the Rights of the Child, Ghana HIV/AIDS Network (GHANET), Population Association of Ghana (PAG), Reproductive Health NGOs, Coalition of NGOs Advocating for Universal Access to Anti Retroviral Treatment (UCAART), Health NGOs, Millennium Development Goal Youth Network (MDGYNW), FAO Education For Rural People –(ERP) Flagship Partners, Country Focal Point for Aids Care Watch headquartered in Thailand, among others.

The overall mission of the organization is to contribute to eradicating poverty among the vulnerable groups of the privileged in the Ghanaian society through the implementation of pragmatic programmes.

Our vision is to very be innovative, accessible and internationally recognized organization committed to achieving the expectations of those we served, and to develop a capacity for the total transformation of the rural poor from economic dependence, deprivation and poverty to economic self reliance and better management of their lives.
