The Green Machine Power Point (the first of three deliverables for Project 2), was a Week Two deliverable, and you submitted the assignment on January 15th. This assignment is intended to introduce students to basic distinctions within the law, including the difference between civil and criminal law, the distinction between torts and crimes, the contours of employment at will, legal defenses, and tort damages. Students were asked to answer five questions in a narrated Power Point presentation:

 Can Colossal Corporation terminate Sam without any notice or a hearing? Why or why not? This question relates to employment-at-will. Good basic analysis of the law and application to the scenario. However, keep in mind that there are public policy exceptions to the employment-at-will doctrine; what are they and do any of these apply?

 Did Sam, Rachel, or Greg commit any crimes and, if so, which crimes did each person commit? Fully explain your answer for each person as you explore the subject of business criminal law. Good analysis of the law and application as it relates to each of the individuals. Be careful of your choice of words, e.g., slide 2, where you said, regarding Sam, that your assessment was according to “business criminal law.” Business law typically relates to civil law or statutes (which can include business torts, consistent with the assigned reading), while criminal law is a separate body of laws that are offenses against the entire community.

 Did Sam, Rachel, or Greg commit any torts and, if so, which torts did each person commit? Read about the law of torts in order to make your determinations.

 What defenses, if any, might the relevant persons allege in defense to the torts and crimes identified in questions 2 and 3? Fully explain your answer for each person as to both torts and crimes.

 Can anyone collect damages? Who can collect and whom would they sue? Detail the specific damages that may be available to potential plaintiffs as you read about tort damages.

Additionally, students were instructed to abide by these formatting requirements:

 Include a title slide, with your name on it, introducing the presentation. Good.

 On the presentation slides, include only the major bullet points for each issue.

 Include no more than 20 slides.

 Use your narration to provide the supporting rationale for each major bullet point. OK, but see prior two bullets.

 Include a script of your narration in the notes section of PowerPoint. OK, (except the narration for the title slide was not included in the notes).

 Title your files using this protocol: yourlastname_GreenMachinePowerPoint_date. Good.

 The final slide must present a clear summary of your major conclusions and any

recommendations. OK.

Thank you for this effort;
