ERP systems can run on a variety of hardware and network configurations, typically employing a database as a repository for information. There are several ERP software manufacturers and among them, prominent are SAP, Oracle Corporation, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, Lawson etc. SAP has the major share in the ERP maket and next comes the Oracle Corporation. Oracle has bought JD Edwards, People Soft, and Siebel recently and they compete with SAP aggressively.
